A lot of us over recent years have left the Wet Cell Lead Acid batteries and turned towards Gel Cell and other types of batteries, at considerable cost, due to the maintenance issues associated with wet cells but finely BatteryBuddie has given us a simple, cost effective solution to power storage.

BatteryBuddie is a relatively new product to hit Australian market. The reasoning behind the product is to stop the early erosion and deterioration of Wet Cell Lead Acid batteries through boiling dry during the charging process and exposing of the plates in the battery, to atmosphere. This is the most common cause of wet cell batteries failing in their normal duty.

During the normal use of a wet cell battery, charge is taken from the battery to run things such as lights, appliances and essentials such as starter motors. The battery is then recharged by means of alternator, battery charger, solar panel etc. As power is taken from the battery and then replaced into the battery. The fluid in the battery will have a tendency to boil and gas off, venting to atmosphere and then needing to be replaced, which up until now has been a manual, tedious, time consuming and dangerous operation which on a lot of vans and boats usually results in the operator becoming a contortionist to carry out this function. Hence the reason most wet cell batteries fail because this task is simply not carried out.

This simple product for all purposes is an extra reservoir for each cell of the battery. It has no mechanical or electrical parts that can fail in its function and it works on similar principals to some of the water dispensers seen around the home and office. The reservoirs have been cleverly engineered to fit into most wet cell batteries from sizes 120amp/hr and up, which are the sizes of batteries most often used in deep cycle applications.

Each BatteryBuddie reservoir is simply trimmed to optimum length and inserted into the existing service / filling hole in the top of each cell of the battery. When the fluid in the battery falls below the set optimum height, a small amount of air is allowed to enter the reservoir which allows fluid from the reservoir to fall into the battery and top up the cell to the desired level again. This function happens automatically 24/7 until the reservoir is empty. The added benefit of the BatteryBuddie product is that the reservoirs are translucent, so you can see and monitor the fluid levels in the reservoir with out trying to look over the top of a charging battery trying to spit acid in your eye. When the reservoir is nearing empty simply replace the reservoir and you will never again have to replace your batteries due to lack of battery fluid neglect.
